I Am The Mountain

A Post-Contemplative Climb Reflection Guide

Thank you for joining the contemplative climb! We hope you had a meaningful time and that there were opportunities to have a deep encounter with yourself, others, and the Sacred. Thank you for allowing the trail to be your teacher and the mountain your monastery.

This guide will help you look back on your experiences doing the contemplative climb. You are not expected to answer all of the questions below or finish your reflection in one sitting. Similar to the pre-climb materials, feel free to go through the following questions in your own pace.

In the silence of your heart, become aware now that you are in the Sacred and the Sacred is in you.

Meditation Exercise

This exercise can be experienced through video, purely audio, and/or text formats. You may do this exercise multiple times and in different formats as you desire in preparation for the climb. It can be a different experience each time.

1. Watch and listen (11 mins)

2. Read the transcript

Take some time to write or draw in your journal after doing the meditation exercise.

Reflection Questions

Spend a few minutes going through the photos and videos you received during the climb. Review your journal entries if you made some. View any form of documentation you have of the climb.

  1. What is arising in me right now? What are my dominant feelings and thoughts?

  2. What were my peak moments during the climb?

  3. What were the moments I least enjoyed?

  4. How did I encounter myself? Are there new things I discovered about myself?

  5. How were my encounters with my co-climbers? Were there some notable exchanges?

  6. How did I encounter the Sacred or God or the Divine during the climb?

  7. Are there new insights, understanding, appreciation, or perspective? What could these be?

  8. What invitations do I sense at this time?
